Lorie Burch ahead in Collin County race with more than 50 percent of the vote

In the U.S. House District 3 race, Lorie Burch has 51 percent of the vote. Her nearest competitor is Sam Johnson with 27 percent of the vote. If she maintains her lead, she will avoid a runoff.
On the Republican side, state Rep. Van Taylor has 86 percent of the vote in a three-way race. He’s expected to be his party’s nominee. More than twice as many Republicans early voted in this Collin County district as Democrats.
In the race to fill the unexpired term of Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez, acting Sheriff Marian Brown is leading with 58 percent of the vote. Roy Williams, Jr. is in second place with 35 percent of the vote in the three-way race.
