‘Victory in Dallas’ event to raise funds for Gay, Lesbian Victory Fund
The Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund, a national organization working to help openly LGBT candidates win election to office nationwide at all levels of government, will hold a “Victory in Dallas” cocktail reception on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at J. Douglas Design, 3301 Oak Lawn Ave.
The party is hosted by Victory Fund board member Malcolm Gage Jr. of Dallas, Victory Fund President and CEO Chuck Wolfe, Victory Campaign board members J.D. Angle, Ron Ausemus, Jason Hanna and Paul Kirkpatrick, all of North Texas, and hosts and sponsors Douglas Bradford, Cordey Lash, gay Fort Worth City Councilman Joel Burns, Dennis Coleman, Mindy Collins and Park Place Luxury Boutique.
Sponsorships are available at the $2,500, $1,500 and $500 levels. Individual tickets are $50 each.

In addition, 10 percent of all sales at J. Douglas Design throughout the month of October will go to benefit the Victory Fund.
Car wash set to raise travel funds for youth headed to D.C. march
“Washington D.C. or BUST!” a car wash to raise money for six local LGBT youth to attend the National Equality March next weekend, will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 behind the Round-Up Saloon, 3912 Cedar Springs Road.
The youth received free airline tickets from six people who agreed to sponsor them in an impromptu challenge during the North Texas GLBT Chamber of Commerce’s Pride Dinner on Sept. 21.
However, the youth still need money to pay for other expenses related to the trip, according to Judith Dumont, director of administration for Youth First Texas.
The six youth who’ll be attending the march are Hai Duong, Victor Rodriguez, Heather Sullivan, Steven Richmond, Will Mason Brown and John McKnight. They will be chaperoned by Dumont and fellow YFT employee Johnny Cooper.
Those who agreed to sponsor the youth during the Chamber Dinner are Louise Young and Vivienne Armstrong, Cordey Lash, Derrick Brown, Mark Reed (2) and Jonathan Palant.
DIFFA/Dallas names three new members to board of directors
The Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS: DIFFA recently named three new members to its board of trustees.
New board members are Darin Kunz, managing partner of Gem Reflections, Dr. Brady Allen with Uptown Physicians Group and Clint Carlton, director of sales and services for Aetna National Accounts.
