Promise MCC to mark 12th anniversary with Lillie Brock as guest speaker
Promise Metropolitan Community Church will celebrate its 12th anniversary on Sunday, May 31, with the Rev. Elder Lillie Brock as guest speaker at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Other guests will include the Rev. Bob Ellis and Apostle Alex D. Byrd, who will be providing special music for the celebration. A dinner will follow the morning service

Senior pastor the Rev. Jon Haack said the service "will be a joyous celebration of our 12th church anniversary and the move of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday."

Mr. TGRA candidate holding charity car wash Saturday at Round-Up
Lester Little, Mr. TGRA Candidate 2010, will hold a charity car wash behind the Round-Up Saloon, 3912 Cedar Springs Road, on Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event benefits the Dallas Chapter of Texas Gay Rodeo Association and its charity partners.

Car washes will be free, and donations of any amount will be accepted and encouraged. TGRA is a 501(c)3 charity organization.

Men of Essence honoring author, educator, entrepreneur at Backpack Gala
Men of Essence will hold its 3rd annual Backpack Drive Gala: "A Child Today, A Leader Tomorrow," on Sunday, June 14, at the Best Western Hotel Dallas, 8051 LBJ Freeway in Dallas.

This year’s event honors MoE Champion Awards, who include best selling author Dr. Cordell Adams, University of California Berkeley Assistant Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs Jonathan Poullard and Houze Designs entrepreneur Terrye Houze.

Proceeds of the 2009 Backpack Drive Gala will benefit Jonathan’s Place, a center for abused and neglected children; South Dallas Cultural Center, Soul Children’s Theatre; and the inaugural MoE Educational Grant, a scholarship program geared to assist young members of the LGBT community who are university bound or in college pursuing a fulltime undergraduate degree or post secondary course of study.
