Councilwoman to be guest speaker at LULAC Rainbow Council meeting
Special guest speaker will be LGBT ally Councilwoman Pauline Medrano who represents Oak Lawn. Other speakers include representatives from Planned Parenthood who will brief the council on reproductive rights, and members of GEAR (Gender Educa-tion Advocacy Resources) who will talk about recent initiatives in the local Transgender community.

Resource Center’s transgender group celebrating 3rd anniversary
The Resource Center of Dallas’ GEAR (Gender Education, Advocacy and Resources) program will celebrate its third anniversary with a mixer Thursday, March 26, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Resource Center of Dallas, 2701 Reagan.
GEAR Coordinator Marla Compton said the event will include remarks by Dr. Rita Cotterly, special guests, food and drinks.
Organization for older LGBTS to hear program on elder caregiving
The program, "Caring for the Caregiver," begins at 6:30 p.m., is free and open to the public, and will be held at Resource Center of Dallas, 2701 Reagan St. It will be presented by Zanda Hilger, who manages and provides elder caregiver education programs for the Area Agency on Aging of Dallas, Area Agency on Aging of North Central Texas, and Area Agency of Tarrant County.
Hilger also conducts individual counseling with caregivers and runs support groups. She has a master’s degree in counseling and is a licensed professional counselor.
Art for Peace & Justice hosting Deep Ellum Gospel Brunch with Lee, Floyd
Art for Peace & Justice presents its first "Deep Ellum Gospel Brunch," featuring Denise Lee and Gary Floyd, on Sunday, March 29 at Excuses Extreme Café, 3025 Main Street in Deep Ellum. Doors open for the two seatings at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., with the music beginning 30 minutes later.

DIFFA/Dallas to preview 2009 Dallas Collection at party in Union Station
The Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS: DIFFA/Dallas presents the DIFFA/Dallas 20th Anniversary Collection: Utopia Preview Party on Tuesday, March 31, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Dallas’ historic Union Station.
The event offers the public a first glimpse of the 2009 Jacket Collection to be auctioned off at the Hilton Anatole Hotel on May 2. It features jackets by nationally and internationally renowned designers such as Michael Simon, Geoffrey Henning, Tadashi, St. John, Lela Rose, Kenneth Cole, Emma Watson for AFI, Tory Burch, The Muppets and costume designers from "Desperate Housewives," "Heroes" and "Ghost Whisperer" and more
Chef Wolfgang Puck will provide the food.

Benefit for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society features pianist, painter
The event will feature composer/pianist Seth Simmons performing his original compositions as fine artist Rolando Diaz paints original works on canvas.
Diaz’s original paintings created during the show will be sold in a silent auction following the performance.
