No Tie Dinner benefiting AIDS Services set for March 29 at Frontiers of Flight
AIDS Services of Dallas’ annual fundraiser, the No Tie Dinner & Dessert Party, is set for Saturday, March 29, beginning with several dinner parties in private homes around the city at 6 p.m.
The private dinner parties will be followed by a dessert social and silent auction at the Frontiers of Flight Museum near Love Field.
More than 600 people from around the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex are expected to attend.
Proceeds from the evening will help fund the programs at AIDS Services, an organization that helps people with AIDS to live independently. Dallas jeweler Joe Pacetti will be honorary chairman of the event. Dennis Kershner is event chairman.
Sponsorships are still available at several levels, and individual participation at private homes and venues throughout the DFW area is encouraged.

Democracy for America holding grassroots training this weekend
The progressive political action organization Democracy for America will present the DFA Training Academy, a grassroots training seminar to develop organizers at all levels — from neighborhood leaders to campaign staff — from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, March 15-16, at Townview Magnet School, 1201 E 8th No. 302.
The training is intended to lay the groundwork to elect a Democratic president and to elect U.S. Senate candidate Rick Noriega and other Democrats up and down the ticket in Texas.
Those participating will include DFA chair Jim Dean; DFA Executive Director Arshad Hasan; DFA Training Director Matt Blizek; former Democratic Party of Arkansas Executive Director Michael Cook; Giddy Up Communications founder Carrie Giddins; Progressive Persuasion Consulting principal Andrea Hildebran; and Mobilize.org D.C. Coordinator Katelyn Archer.
Saturday’s schedule for the event includes a Texas-style barbecue luncheon with U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson.

Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Pooch Parade returning for Easter in Lee Park
The Turtle Creek Association and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra present their 23rd annual Easter in the Park celebration on Sunday, March 23, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lee Park.
Everyone is invited to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day’s events, usually highlighted by large numbers of colorful costumes and elaborately decorated Easter bonnets.
There will also be food vendor booths available.
The schedule includes the Pooch Parade, which contestants can enter for a $10 fee to compete for Best Dressed Dog, Best Large Dog, Best Little Dog and Best Owner/Pet Look-Alike. The contest is preceded by an SPCA of Texas parade of adoptable dogs.
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra will perform at 3 p.m.
Woody’s Saints softball team holding car wash Saturday; donations accepted
The Dallas Woody’s Saints softball team from the Pegasus Slowpitch Softball Association will hold a car wash Saturday, March 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. behind Zini’s Pizzaria, 4001 Cedar Springs Road.
The car wash is free, but the team will be accepting donations.
