LULAC hosts Pride fiesta at Kaliente

LULAC 4871 — The Dallas Rainbow Council, AIDS Arms and local businesses are hosting the second annual Cinco de Mayo Pride Fiesta on Saturday, May 5.
This outdoor festival will feature entertainment, food, art exhibits, games, and information exhibits by local nonprofit organizations. The proceeds from Pride Fiesta will benefit the LULAC 4871 — Jesus Chairez Scholarship and AIDS Arms. The event takes place in the parking lot of Kaliente Discotec, 4350 Maple Ave. from noon to 7 p.m. The event is free.

 

TCC holds annual auction

CIRQUE!, Turtle Creek Chorale’s annual gala auction, takes place at Edison’s, 1724 Cockrell Ave. in The Cedars from 6–10 p.m. on Saturday, May 5.
Last year the event raised more than $100,000. The evening features silent and live auctions, food and a signature sangria and text notification of winning bids.

HRC family-building workshop set

Human Rights Campaign’s Family Project will hold a workshop May 12 on options for LGBT individuals and couples to create a family. This seminar will focus on individuals and same-sex couples consciously choosing to create families.
Attorney Timothy Thomas will address the unique needs of estate planning for the LGBT community and the importance of establishing estate plans in advance of surrogate pregnancies. Attorney Lauren Duffer will discuss creating a family through adoption, legalities of securing a birth certificate and accomplishing co-parent adoptions in the state of Texas.
Infertility consultant Mindy Berkson will discuss surrogacy and egg donation and the many pitfalls to avoid.
The program takes place at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary, 3120 McKinney Ave. on May 12 from 9 a.m. to noon and includes a continental breakfast.
