Rainbow Garden Club meeting set at Northaven Gardens in Dallas
The January meeting of the Rainbow Garden Club will be held Sunday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. at Northhaven Gardens in Dallas. The meeting will include a presentation by a member of the Northhaven staff on "Planning your vegetable garden." The presentation will include information on the best types of vegetables to grow in the DFW area, recommended planting times, soil amendments and creative suggestions for incorporating vegetables and other edible plants into the overall landscape.

Democratic Women, Obama Collin County hosting ‘Inaugural Gala’
Texas Democratic Women of Collin County and Obama Collin County will host an Inaugural Gala on Tuesday, Jan. 20, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Plano Centre, 2000 East Spring Creek Parkway. The event will include dancing to the music of Memphis Soul Live interspersed with live TV coverage of the inaugural events in Washington, D.C. A buffet dinner will be served along with a champagne toast and a cash bar.

Women’s Chorus of Dallas to hold open rehearsals for singers
The Women’s Chorus of Dallas will hold open rehearsals for women singers at 7 p.m. on Jan. 21 and Jan. 28 at the Sammons Center for the Arts, 3630 Harry Hines Blvd.

Those interested in joining will be asked to sit in on rehearsal, meet with the other members of TWCD and learn about becoming a member. Prior experience and music reading are not required.

The Women’s Chorus of Dallas is a volunteer community chorus comprised of approximately 55 singers ranging in skill from novice to professional. The chorus’ repertoire includes classical through pop. They perform at three ticketed concerts and several community events each year.

The next concert will be held on April 29 with an encore performance on a performance cruise in late June 2009.

The chorus performs in support of and raises funds for breast cancer and AIDS awareness, domestic violence shelters, and many other worthwhile causes.
