Rainbow Garden Club holds its monthly meeting Sunday, Feb. 8, at 2 Smith-Hawken Garden Center, 3300 Knox St.

Martin Kelley will give a talk and demonstration on "Landscaping with Stone." Martin has been a landscaper for 10 years, and currently owns and operates Blackwater Landscaping Co. in Dallas. Resource Center to be host site for HIV conference Web cast
Resource Center of Dallas, 2701 Reagan St., will serve as a host site for a Wednesday, Feb. 11 Web cast from the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections.

The "Thriving with HIV – Treatment Update" Web cast will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and will be a two-hour summary of the conference. It will feature three panels with a focus on new information related to HIV/AIDS and hepatitis treatment issues.

Medical and non-medical HIV/AIDS providers and informed community, supportive friends, allies and family are encouraged to attend. More than 3,800 researchers are expected to attend the 16th annual CROI in Montreal. The goal of the conference is to make the link between laboratory and clinical research into medical applications.

GAIN celebrating Valentine’s Day with mixer, Out Takes movie
The Resource Center of Dallas’ GAIN (GLBT + Aging Interest Network) will celebrate Valentine’s Day with a mixer in advance of the Out Takes Dallas screening of the movie, "Out at the Wedding" on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Center, 2701 Reagan.

The mixer is free and open to the public. The screening begins at 7:30 p.m. at The Magnolia theater, located in the West Village, 3699 McKinney Ave.

Kee Holt, coordinator of the GAIN program, said the mixer is "an excellent opportunity for members of the GLBT community age 50 and over to share some pre-Valentine’s Day fun and find out about upcoming GAIN programs."

Gayla Prom planning party set at Resource Center of Dallas
Resource Center of Dallas kicks off the 2009 Gayla Prom planning season with a party Friday, Feb.13, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Center, 2701 Reagan St. Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to attend.

This is the second year that the Resource Center of Dallas will host the Gayla Prom, which was voted "Best Prom" by the Dallas Observer for 2008. The annual event is held to provide a safe, supportive and fun event for LGBT youth ages 14-22.
