Family Equality Dallas hosting outing to Amazing Jake’s
Family Equality Dallas, formerly Dallas Family Pride, is hosting an outing to Amazing Jake’s Food and Fun, located in Collin Creek Mall, 831 N. Central Expressway in Plano, beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21.
The indoor games-and-rides park includes an all-you-can-eat buffet with pizza, pasta, soups, salads and more, bumper cars, rock climbing walls, video games, miniature golf, kiddie rides, laser tag and go-karts.

Queer Liberaction holding ‘Milk Box’ on Sunday; announces new meeting site
Queer Liberaction will hold another "Milk Box" free speech event Sunday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. on Cedar Springs Road near Throckmorton Street. Everyone is invited to participate.
The direct-action group also announced that its meetings have been moved from the Resource Center of Dallas to Buli restaurant, 3908 Cedar Springs Road. The group meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. The next meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m.

Bayes, Buchert present annual Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras benefit party
Dr. Steve Bayes and JD Buchert will present their annual Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras Celebration on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the Dallas Eagle, 2515 Inwood Road. The event starts at 6 p.m. with a free Cajun buffet by Bad Boys Catering, which is co-owned by Bayes and Buchert, who also serve as executive chefs. The 10th annual Nastiest, Sleaziest Raunchiest Mardi Gras show starts at 7 p.m., featuring the crowning of the King and Queen of Mardi Gras. Anyone is eligible to compete as king or queen, and those who raise the most money by the time totals are counted on Tuesday night win the titles. Proceeds benefits AIDS Services of Dallas.
LULAC’s Dallas Rainbow Council to hear talk on diversifying census takers
LULAC 4871 – The Dallas Rainbow Council will meet Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 6:30 p.m., at the Resource Center of Dallas, 2701 Reagan St. in the Blue and Yellow Room.
Guest speaker will be Anthony Gipson of the Census Bureau, who will talk about diversifying census takers for the 2010 count.
Dallas City Council candidate LeVar LD Thomas will also speak at the meeting, and Dallas County Elections Department representatives will be there to deputize voter registrars in preparation for the municipal elections in May.
Dallas Rainbow Council President Jesse Garcia has been invited to speak at this year’s OUTLaw Spring Conference, an LGBTS Alliance organization at the University of Texas School of Law. The conference, set for March 5 in Austin, will host law students and sitting judges from across Texas.
The focus for this year’s OUTLaw conference, "Forging a Diverse Alliance," is part of the effort to broaden the LGBT community’s traditional base of support to include organizations that work for the civil rights of ethnic minorities.
