CoH presenting 2 Christmas concerts this Sunday
The Cathedral of Hope’s Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra will present a celebration of the mysteries of Christmas in word and song during the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship services on Sunday, Dec. 13 as its Christmas gift to the community.
Musical selections will include a setting of the French carol "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence," the new praise and worship anthem "Hallelujah! Light Has Come" and seasonal favorite "For Unto Us a Child Is Born" from Handel’s "Messiah."
The services also will include communion, congregational singing of familiar carols, and a sermon by senior pastor the Rev. Jo Hudson.
In addition, the music ministry of the church’s Congregación Latina will present "An Evening of Latino Christmas" at 7 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary. Pianist Loel Camp will accompany the choir, ensembles and soloists. A $10 donation is requested to support the Congregación Latina’s community outreach ministry.
The Cathedral of Hope is located at 5910 Cedar Springs Road. The services are free and open to all.
Gay Games registration fee will increase on Jan. 1
For those planning to participate in the Gay Games in Cologne on July 31–Aug. 7, register before the end of the year to get the current price of about $183 depending on the conversion rate.
On Jan. 1, the rate increases by about $36.71.
Participants can register as part of Team Dallas or as individuals. Airline discounts and team hotel are still pending.
In addition to 34 different sports, the week will include choral, band, cheerleading and visual arts festivals.
The sports are both team sports such as volleyball, soccer, field hockey and water polo as well as individual sports such as track and field, golf and swimming. Included in the sports category are chess, physique and billiards.
