DPD Central Patrol Division to hold year-end crime synopsis meeting

The Dallas Police Department’s Central Patrol Division will hold its 2007 Year End Crime Synopsis meeting Thursday, Jan. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Ceazar Chavez Learning Center, 1710 North Carroll Ave. at Ross Avenue.

The meeting will address crime concerns and how Central Patrol is addressing them. There will be opportunities to share information about specific neighborhoods with geographic area commanders. Jubilee Apostolic Christian Center announces Camp Meeting in February

Jubilee Apostolic Christian Center will hold its semi-annual GLBT Affirming Camp Meeting Feb. 7-9 at Holiday Inn Select/Love Field, 3300 W. Mockingbird Lane in Dallas.

The event will feature the Rev. Ken Rushing, founder and pastor of Through Him Fellowship in Houston, along with Jubilee pastor the Rev. Charles C. Morrow and several other preachers and music ministries.

The Camp Meeting is open to everyone. There are no registration fees. Free will offerings will be taken.

The five-day summer camp meeting will be held Sept. 29-Oct. 3.

Stonewall Democrats to hold delegate training session at year’s 1st meeting

The Stonewall Democrats of Dallas’ first meeting of 2008 will focus on training members of the LGBT community on how to become a delegate to state and national Democratic Conventions, and on deputizing those interested in registering voters.

A representative from the Dallas County Elections Department will attend the meeting to explain the rules and regulations of being a voter registrar and to deputize those that are interested. Stonewall member and local State Democratic Executive Committeewoman Dr. Theresa Daniel will also give a presentation about delegate selection.

The Texas Democratic Party will hold its state convention at the Austin Convention Center, 500 East Cesar Chavez St., June 6-7.

The Democratic National Convention takes place at the Pepsi Center, 1000 Chopper Circle in Denver, Aug. 25-28.

People considering going to these conventions should attend their local senatorial district conventions on March 29. Locations will be determined on the evening of Jan. 10 by local precinct chairs in the Dallas County Democratic Party, and Stonewall will post those locations on its Web site, www.Stonewall-DemocratsOfDallas.org.

Stonewall Democrats of Dallas’ meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 6:30 p.m., at Ojeda’s Restaurant, 4617 Maple Ave.
