Jubilee Fellowship seeking donations to establish Apostolic Resource Center
Jubilee Fellowship, an LGBT-welcoming evangelical church, is seeking donations to establish the Apostolic Resource Center. Needed items include books on Christianity and homosexuality for the library, furniture including caf?-style tables and chairs for the coffee shop, clothing, household items, furniture and other items for resale in the thrift shop/relief center, hand-made fashion accessories, crafts, d?cor items or art for the boutique.

The church is located at 3909 Case Ridge Drive in Mesquite. It holds services at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. each Sunday, and evening Bible study each Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Valiente presents Noche Bohemia to showcase works by gay Latino artists
Valiente, the DFW LGBT Latino alliance, presents Noche Bohemia, an exhibit showcasing original works by Latino artists, on Sunday as part of Valients’ participation in Hispanic Heritage Month.
The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Suenos Sabrosos, 408 N. Bishop, Suite 105. The event is free and open to the public.
Artists featured in the exhibit are Jose “Joey” Chabolla III of Dallas, Jesus Chairez of Dallas, Rosalinda Gomez of Dallas, Anna-Marie Lopez of San Antonio and Alicia Molina of Dallas.
Suenos Sabrosos is owned by lesbian artist Rosa Lopez.
Other events scheduled for Hispanic Heritage Month are a free HIV testing day at Bachman Lake on Oct. 15 and Valiente’s October meeting, featuring Mercedes Olivera of the Dallas Morning News as guest speaker, at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at Havana’s Restaurant and Bar, 4006 Cedar Springs Road.

Women’s Chorus performs at 2 morning services at Cathedral of Hope on Sunday
The Women’s Chorus of Dallas, under the direction of Melinda Imthrum, will perform during the 9 a.m. and 11.a.m. services Sunday at Cathedral of Hope, 5910 Cedar Springs Road.
The chorus will perform “A Wish and a Promise” by Jill Galina and “The Lord Bless and Keep You” by John Rutter. The Chorus will join with the Cathedral’s Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra in performing “Why We Sing” by Greg Gilpin. Admission is free.
Legacy of Success Foundation plans fundraising Bowl-A-Thon
The Legacy of Success Foundation will hold its second annual Bowl-A-Thon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 14 at 300 Dallas (formerly AMF Fun Fest) 3805 Belt Line Road in Addison.
The cost is $100 per four-person team, including bowling, shoes, pizza, popcorn and soda. Prizes and trophies will be awarded.
Proceeds will go to support the foundation’s efforts in the community.

Casa Mexicana offering series of lectures on Dia de Los Muertos
Casa Mexicana art gallery will celebrate El Dia De Los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) with a series of one-hour lectures on the meaning and traditions of the holiday and building a traditional home altar, or ofrenda, for those who have died.
The lectures will be held on three consecutive Saturdays, beginning Oct. 14, from 11 a.m. to noon. They are free and open to the public and refreshments and educational handouts will be available.
Casa Mexicana is located one-half block east of the Latino Cultural Center at 2710 Live Oak Road. Larry Sanders, Casa Mexicana co-owner, will conduct the lectures.
