“‘Disco Forever’ show set to benefit TGRA in Fort Worth
The Fort Worth chapter of the Texas Gay Rodeo Association will hold the “Disco Forever” show Friday, beginning at 10 p.m., at Stampedes Bar, 621 Hemphill St. in Fort Worth.
All proceeds will benefit the Fort Worth chapter of the gay rodeo association.
SPCA, city of Dallas offering low-cost vaccination clinic
The SPCA of Texas and the city of Dallas are offering a low-cost vaccination clinic Saturday, from 8 a.m. to noon, at Fireside Park, 8601 Fireside Drive in Dallas.
Core vaccines that every dog and cat should receive annually and the rabies vaccine will be administered by the SPCA for a total of $17. In addition, microchipping will be available for $20, including registration, and heartworm tests, Heartguard heartworm preventative and Frontline flea preventative will be available at a 10 percent discount.
City officials will register people who qualify for free spay/neuter services and will also register vaccinated pets.
Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be carriers. No appointment is necessary.
Dignity/Dallas changing meeting location to Cathedral of Hope
Officials with Dignity/Dallas, an organization for LGBT Catholics and their friends and supporters, announced this week that the organization is changing the location of its meetings from Bethany Presbyterian Church to the Congregational Life Center Chapel at the Cathedral of Hope.
The change goes into effect as of Sunday.
Victor Kralisz, president of Dignity/Dallas, said the organization has spent “six very productive years” with Bethany Presbyterian as its home. “But after months of conversation with our ministers, members and the Rev. Jo Hudson, we feel that the space [at Cathedral of Hope][ is appropriate to our size and offers a location identified all over the Metroplex with LGBT Christians.”
Hudson is senior pastor and rector at Cathedral of Hope.
Kralisz added, “We are excited by this new opportunity to locate in so central and prominent a place, and we are grateful for this offer from the Cathedral of Hope.”
Dignity/Dallas members and guests will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 4523 Cedar Springs Road, where they will hold the beginning of Mass. After the sermon, participants will move to the Cathedral, 5910 Cedar Springs Road, for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
“We will acknowledge our gratitude to our old location and welcome the future at our new one,” Kralisz said. “The sacramentality of place is a Catholic hallmark, and we will ritually leave the old and be welcomed by the new.
Human Rights Campaign holds “‘Salsa Cocktail’ dance party at Ciudad
The Human Rights Campaign of Dallas-Fort Worth holds its fifth annual “Salsa Cocktail” dance party Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Ciudad Restaurant, One Turtle Creek Village, 3888 Oak Lawn Avenue, Ste. 135.
Special guests will be members of Valiente, Human Rights Campaign president Joe Solmonese and the organization’s associate director of diversity, Donna Payne.
No tickets are required, but a suggested donation of $35 includes a year membership to the Human Rights Campaign, two cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

Human Rights Campaign presents a sneak preview of “‘Dirty Laundry,’ the latest film from writer-director Maurice Jamal, on Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Angelika Film Center and Caf?, 5321 E. Mockingbird Lane. Admission is free.
There will be an after-party at Cosmo Rouge, 407 N. Bishop St.
“Dirty Laundry” is described as a modern-day prodigal son story with a twist. It centers on New York magazine writer Patrick, played by Rockmond Dunbar, who returns to his family’s home in the South after 10 years to discover a big secret that could threaten his “perfect” life. The film also features Loretta Devine as the family matriarch, Evelyn, whose own story holds as much drama and secrecy as her son’s, and standout performances from Jenifer Lewis as Aunt Lettuce and Terri J. Vaughn as Jackie.
