Cathedral of Hope holding yard sale
to benefit Benevolence Fund

The Cathedral of Hope holds its Great Annual Yard Sale Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church, located at 5910 Cedar Springs.

All proceeds benefit the cathedral’s Benevolence Fund, which provides financial assistance to those in need, including rent payments, utility payments and money for prescriptions.

In addition to the yard sale, the church will offer several premium items for sale through a silent auction. Premium items include an art deco bar cabinet, an antique stove and sterling silver candelabra.

Silent auction bids will be accepted from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Silent auction winners will be notified by phone and asked to pick up their items between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday.

Miss Gay UsofA Classic scheduled for Monday at the Round-Up Saloon

The Miss Gay UsofA Classic 2006 Pageant will be held at the Round-Up Saloon, starting at 9 p.m. Monday.

The contest features female impersonators over the age of 40, and 21 contestants who have qualified at preliminary pageants held around the country will compete. The pageant includes talent, interview and evening gown competitions.

Miss Gay UsofA Classic 2005, Latoya Bacall of Lexington, Ken., will return to Dallas for the pageant. Other entertainers and titleholders scheduled to appear include Tamisha Iman, Raven St. James, Ginger Manchester and Tina Devore.

Hostess for the pageant will be local entertainer Kelexis Davenport.

Admission is $15.

Express dating event for HIV-positive
men set for Resource Center

The first Poz Express Dating event has been set for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on June 10 in the Rainbow Room of the Resource Center of Dallas, 2701 Reagan St.

The event offers HIV-positive single men a creative way to meet other positive men in a friendly, non-sexual, non-judgmental atmosphere, sponsors said.

The event is being held in conjunction with the M2M program at the Resource Center.

“‘Recruit Auction,’ “‘Military Manuevers’ to benefit AIDS Services of North Texas

The Leather Knights present the “Recruit Auction” on Friday night and the seventh annual “Military Maneuvers” party on Saturday night, both at Dallas Eagle, to benefit AIDS Services of North Texas.

The Saturday night party includes a silent auction, boot blacks, live auctions, a uniform contest, military haircuts on stage and door prize raffles. Resource Center set to hold second annual Summer Strut Home Tour in June

The Resource Center of Dallas will hold its second annual Summer Strut Home Tour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on June 4 in the historic Greenway Parks neighborhood.

The event, which raised more than $12,000 for the Resource Center last year, will feature seven homes of noteworthy architecture and design – including one noted by D Home Magazine to be the city’s most architecturally significant home. Hors d’ouevres and beverages are included. Sponsors include the Texas Gay Rodeo Association, Mary Stewart Hall and Nancy McCaskell and Urban Edge Developers.

Tickets are $50 per person or $90 per couple and are available online at www.rcdallas.org.
