TPride film and fundraiser
Trans Pride Initiative collaborates with CineWilde for a movie screening and fundraiser at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, at Texas Theatre, 231 W. Jefferson Blvd.
CineWilde presents the 2003 anime film, Tokyo Godfathers about three homeless people — a down-on-his-luck alcoholic named Gin, a tough-talkin’ trans woman named Hana, and an embittered teenage runaway named Miyuki —  who discover an abandoned newborn left in the streets of Tokyo on Christmas Eve. Together, they embark on a miraculous journey through crowded subways, a yakuza wedding, a raucous drag bar, and other unlikely haunts as they search for the child’s parents.

Before the film Trans Pride Initiative will be spinning dance tunes with specialty cocktails at the bar to raise money to set up a shelter and community center for local trans and gender-nonconforming persons.

After the film, bring a gift and join the hilariously competitive white elephant gift-giving game.
