Resource Center Dallas holding book sale to benefit library
Resource Center Dallas will hold a Book Sale Friday and Saturday, Oct. 9-10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, with bargain prices on a wide selection of books, DVDs, VHS tapes and CDs, including LGBT titles.
Proceeds will benefit the Phil Johnson Historic Archives and Research Library.

Cohen to speak at GAIN meeting about long-term planning
Resource Center Dallas’ GAIN (GLBT + Aging Interest Network) will host a program on “Financing Long Term Care” on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 6:30 pm, at the center, 2710 Reagan St.
The program will be conducted by Dallas attorney Michael B. Cohen and is free and open to the public.
Cohen is an elder law attorney whose Dallas law practice focuses on the legal needs of the elderly and disabled, including, without limitation, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, estate planning and long-term care Medicaid planning in connection with the protection of resources and income. He is a frequent speaker on estate and long-term care Medicaid planning.
Cohen is a past president, officer and a member of the board of directors of the Texas chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He is also a member of the Dallas Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas.

Valiente presents annual Latino Art Show at Daniel Padilla Gallery
Valiente presents its annual Latino Art Show and Art Auction, featuring local Latin artists working in all media, on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Daniel Padilla Gallery, 838 W. Davis St.
The event, which is part of Valiente’s commemoration of Hispanic Heritage Month in October, will include complimentary margaritas, beer and wine. Admission is free.
Resource Center Dallas offering free HIV, syphilis testing on Oct. 14
Resource Center Dallas will offer free HIV and syphilis testing on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in recognition of National Latino AIDS Awareness Day.
Tests will be offered at the Nelson-Tebedo Health Center, 4012 Cedar Springs Road.
