TGRA Bachelor Auction set for Saturday at Hidden Door

The Texas Gay Rodeo Association will hold its annual bachelor auction and fundraiser on Saturday, April 3, at the Hidden Door, 5025 Bowser St., beginning at 7 p.m. on the patio stage

Bachelors will be auctioned off to the highest bidder along with other auction items to raise money for TGRA. Several special guest bachelors from TGRA, the United Court of the Lone Star Empire and other organizations will be on the auction block. Hosts and emcees for the evening are McKenzie Storm and Mr. TGRA 2011 candidate Armando Reyna.

Get Equal plans rally to call on Hutchison to vote for ENDA

Get Equal will hold a rally to support the ENDA 4 on April 6 at 3:30 p.m. at Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison’s office. The goal is to move the Employment Non-discrimination Act to the floor of the House for a vote. Get Equal is a new activist organization "dedicated to bringing about full legal and social equality."

The ENDA 4 held a sit-in at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s offices in Washington, D.C. and were arrested on March 18. Two were charged with disturbing the peace in Pelosi’s San Francisco office as well. Chastity Kirven and Michael Robinson of Dallas were among those arrested.

Hutchison’s office is in the Hotels.com building at 10440 Central Expressway.

Lone Star Ride hosting ‘Passion 4 Fashion’ April 16 fundraiser at S4

Lone Star Ride Fighting AIDS hosts the "Passion 4 Fashion: Fighting AIDS one Label at a Time" benefit presented by Saks Fifth Avenue, Caven Enterprises and 77 N Motion Entertainment on Friday, April 16 in the Rose Room at Station 4.

Saks Fifth Avenue will provide fashions from Gucci, Prada and more for the event. Proceeds will benefit the Lone Star Locker, the program through which Lone Star Ride provides loaner bikes to individuals participating in the September AIDS ride.

Tickets range from $25 to $75, available online at LoneStarRide.org. Seating is limited.

Tickets are also available for a VIP reception featuring Belvedere Vodka cocktails and hors d’oeuvres by Spotlight Catering.

GLSEN holding logo contest

The Dallas Chapter of the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network is sponsoring a contest for youth and young adults ages 14 to 25 to design a virtual logo for Dallas’ annual Breaking the Silence event on April 16. Designs should be e-mailed to dallas@chapters.glsen.org on or before March 25. GLSEN-Dallas is also looking for students to perform during the Breaking the Silence event, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on April 16.
