Early voting continues through Feb. 26; primary elections are March 2
Early voting for the March 2 primary elections continues through next Friday, Feb. 26, and both Dallas and Tarrant counties have schedules and early voting locations posted on their Web sites.
In both counties, early voting polls are open from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19; from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20; from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21; and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22 through Friday, Feb. 26.
The Democratic and Republican primary elections will be held Tuesday, March 2, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Tarrant County AOC holding ribbon cutting, open house at new facility
Tarrant County AIDS Outreach Center, which merged with Tarrant County AIDS Interfaith Network last Sept. 1 and at the same time relocated its office to a larger facility, will hold an open house at the new location on Friday, Feb. 26, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m.
The office is located at 400 N. Beach St., Fort Worth, between I-30 and the 121 Freeway. Light refreshments will be served and the public is invited.
Bryan’s House director named to task force for special needs children
David Thomas, executive director of Bryan’s House, has been selected to serve as a member of the Education subcommittee for the Task Force for Children with Special Needs.
The task force was established in the 81st Texas Legislative Session to unite and direct key stakeholders and decision-makers to create a strategic plan to improve the coordination, quality and efficiency of services for children with chronic illnesses, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and/or mental illness.
Before heading Bryan’s House, Thomas served as executive director of the Texas Center for Adolescent Rehabilitation and Education Services.
He is a board member at the Child and Youth Care Certification Institute and is the recent recipient of the President’s Award at the 9th International Child and Youth Care Conference.
Bryan’s House was founded in 1987 to care for children impacted by HIV/AIDS, including those who were themselves infected and those who had one or both parents infected with HIV. It was named after the son of one of the founders. Bryan’s House expanded its mission in 2006 to include children and families who suffer from other serious medical issues, as well.
