QL, EMT searching for couple to marry on Freedom to Marry Day

Queer LiberAction and Equality March Texas are looking for an LGBT couple interested in participating in Dallas’ second annual Freedom to Marry Day on Feb. 12.

The two groups will stage a same-sex wedding ceremony and protest at noon that day in the Historical Plaza, outside the Records Building at 509 Main St. The ceremony will be followed by a procession, led by the newlyweds, to the Marriage License Office to place an application.

Couples interested in participating should e-mail lgbtliberaction@gmail.com.
Organizers said any couples planning to participate should be comfortable with a public wedding ceremony and interaction with the media, and that it would be ideal for the couple to have been married in a state or foreign country where marriage equality is recognized.
