Scholarship applications being accepted
Applications for LEAP Scholarships for the 2015-16 academic year are now being accepted.
Applicants must currently live in Texas and preference is given to LGBT students, those who are members of LGBT families or are allies strongly supportive of the LGBT community.
Larisa Maxwell received a scholarship in 2013 and now serves on the GLBT LEAP Board of Directors.
“Receiving the LEAP scholarship in 2013 in recognition of my hard work was a great honor,” said Maxwell. “It helped to alleviate some financial pressure which allowed me to focus on completing my law degree.”
The scholarships were created by the North Texas GLBT Chamber of Commerce. Since its founding in 2011, $35,000 in scholarship money has been awarded.
The money may be used for any post-secondary education.
More information and applications are available at GLBTLEAP.org.
