LGBT protester Aaron Rathbun confronts Christian counterprotester Angela Cummings after Cummings, with a Bible in hand, tried to disrupt a rally organized by Queer Liberaction in Founders Plaza in downtown Dallas on Saturday, Jan. 10. About 20 LGBT protesters attended the rally calling on President-elect Barack Obama to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, which prohibits the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages. Cummings, one of about 10 Christian counterprotesters who’d gathered across the street, came into the plaza while Mike McKay, far right, executive director of the Resource Center of Dallas, was addressing the crowd. Later, the LGBT protesters lined the north side of Main Street, yelling across toward the counterprotesters. After the LGBT protesters retreated to the north side of the plaza, the counterprotesers left. There were no arrests.
