Liaison was a long time coming

I wanted to congratulate Laura Martin on becoming the full-time DPD liaison officer to the LGBT community. She has been the face of safety since Lynn Albright had a presence in the community.

Laura was our point of contact for last year’s Cedar Springs Merchants Association Art Fair, and she truly understands all the dynamics of the neighborhood, right down to the traffic flow.

This is an amazing step in the right direction and one long in coming.

In my recent move to West Hollywood, I’ve been treated to community crosswalks that are actually governed by RED crossing lights (as opposed to yellow, almost daring, caution lights) that mean you MUST stop.

Perhaps it is a progressive person like Laura that can help in introducing more proactive, and less "bug zapper" safety measures to our communities and lead others by example.
