Gilda’s Club North Texas will offer a support group specifically for lesbians currently in treatment for cancer or who are cancer survivors beginning March 10. The group will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at Gilda’s Club North Texas, One Works of Grace Plaza, 2710 Oak Lawn Ave.

The support group, like all programs at Gilda’s Club, is totally free. But those who want to participate are asked to call 214-219-8877 to schedule a new member consultation before attending the group.

The group will be facilitated by Andra Baker, L.P.C. and cognitive-behavioral therapist. Baker is a three-time cancer survivor and a longtime advocate for people with cancer. She has participated in the National Coalition of Cancer Survivorship and has twice been a summit delegate for the Lance Armstrong Foundation’s Live Strong program. She is a speaker with the American Cancer Society Speakers’ Bureau, and has been faculty for The CURE Patient and Survivor Forum, presented by CURE Magazine, presenting cognitive behavioral therapy for living with cancer to professionals who can pass those techniques along to their patients.
