Outstanding chamber members, allies to be recognized with business excellence awards

Kate Kendall, executive director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, headquartered in California, will be the keynote speaker at the North Texas GLBT Chamber of Commerce’s fourth anniversary dinner and Business Excellence Awards program on Wednesday, March 25.
Attorneys with Kendall’s organization represented plaintiffs in the lawsuit that resulted last year in a California Supreme Court decision overturning that state’s law banning same-sex marriage. Kendall also played a leadership role in the ultimately unsuccessful battle to defeat Proposition 8, an anti-gay-marriage constitutional amendment, approved by voters last Nov. 4, negating that Supreme Court decision.
Those being honored with Business Excellence Awards during the dinner include: Thom Dance, Member Service Award; EDS, an HP Company, Corporate Ally Award; Gina Menicucci & Susan Amick, Community Service Award; Christopher Watts, Business Person of the Year; FASTSIGNS Irving/Las Colinas, Business of the Year.
The event, being hosted by Hilton Dallas Lincoln Centre, 5410 LBJ Freeway, begins with cocktails and networking at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the program from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $75 for general admission and $65 for chamber members and guests.
