Dallas gay-rights attorney Ken Upton responds to Texas’ first same-sex divorce case in an Op-Ed piece that was published in The Dallas Morning News today. You can read it by going here. Not surprisingly, Upton takes issue with Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott’s statement saying he will oppose the divorce:
“This came from the same office that is charged, first and foremost, with upholding the underlying principles of liberty and equality that our Constitution is supposed to guarantee to all citizens. When a government affirmatively requires discrimination against its citizens and advocates that they suffer harm, it shows once again how far we have to go to reach the promises of liberty and equality,” Upton writes.
UPDATE: Via Facebook, Upton says this morning that the Op-Ed has already resulted in a lot of hate mail. Shocking!сайтконтекстная реклама в поисковиках
