Adding this after reading through comments on recent posts:
1. One person who says he was at the Eagle last night commented on a post, and he says one person was arrested for public intoxication.
And, 2. Yes, you can be arrested for public intoxication inside a bar or nightclub. Bars are considered public places (as opposed to your home, which is private).
Of course, Queer Liberaction sees it differently:
“Last night, Friday, the TABC entered the Eagle on Maple Ave in Dallas on its first night in their new location and shut the bar down. Details are still fuzzy and there are still a lot of questions. It appears as though there were no arrests but talk suggests that the officers were acting in a less than professional manner. Several have said that two TABC agents were wearing “ninja” masks and large winter jackets.
These events are particularly disturbing given the recent events at the Rainbow Lounge. As we learned from Fort Worth, squeaky wheels get the grease! Stand with the North Texas LGBT community tomorrow at the Tarrant County Courthouse begining at 7:00 PM as we demand answers, accountability and action from city, police and TABC officials. ”
Gee, “those less than professional officers.” Some in “large winter jackets.”
Back to poster making. WE NEED MORE MARKERS!

Friday night was not the “first” night of operation. The Eagle opened on Wednesday and Thursday in the new structure. TABC waited until after 10 PM to suspend sales twice
I am mad. I want to rise up!
I want to scream in streets! Why are we having a protest at the Tarrant County Courthouse for a TABC raid on a Dallas bar? Doesn’t make any sense to me. We need to sit in front of the TABC office.
So are they open tonight or not?
Without knowing what happened at the Eagle, it would not be prudent to go up in arms yet.
Right now, many of us are still focusing our efforts on getting answers for the Rainbow Lounge incident at the Tarrant County Courthouse tomorrow at 7pm.
