Julie-Johnson

Julie Johnson

Julie Johnson filed to run in the Democratic primary for state House District 115, which covers northwest Dallas County.
If she wins the primary, Johnson will challenge bathroom bill author Matt Rinaldi in the general election in November.
The filing period opened Nov. 11 and runs through Dec. 11. Early voting begins Feb. 20 and the primary is March 6.
“This morning, I took a big step in the next chapter of my life as I officially filed my candidacy for Texas House District 115,” Johnson said in a press release. “Over the years, I have been involved in Democratic politics in various ways but my decision this morning marked the beginning of something entirely different.
“Today, I begin my journey to give North Texans the voice in Austin that they deserve; a voice that speaks for all of the residents of HD 115 and one that never falters in the face of hatred or divisiveness. I am unequivocally taking a stand for my family, my friends and for my fellow Texans. Today, we are telling extremists in the state legislature that enough is enough.
“Throughout the next several months, I hope to earn your confidence and your vote. My team and I will be entirely devoted to representing the people of Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Farmer’s Branch, Irving, North Dallas, and Valley Ranch because they deserve better. Women deserve better healthcare. All families deserve better opportunities. Our children deserve the best public education. Working people deserve better wages and small businesses deserve less tax burdens.
“We all deserve better than Matt Rinaldi.”
