While tryting to track down a picture of Joan Crawford with Pepsi, I came across this bloggy tidbit.
From TXPOPPET
“On November 22, 1963 former Vice President Richard Nixon was attached to a law firm representing Pepsi Cola. He was attending a bottlers convention at the Statler Hilton in Dallas and was enjoying Robert Clary’s show with Joan Crawford and her husband who was at that time Pepsi’s CEO. I’m afraid any conspiracy rumors connected with JFK’s assassination a few blocks away the next morning are nonsense. Or are they? I’ve always been suspicious of men in berets.”
Yet another reason to save the Statler Hilton!
Another bit of trivia: Joan Crawford was born in San Antonio, so I’m not surprised to know she partied in Dallas like so many SA refugees (myself included).
Right across the street from Jack Ruby’s place, The Carousel Club. She was probably a good shot. And everyone knows what Kennedy did to Nixon during the debates.
LBJ tried to affect a ‘thrifty’ image by turning out excess lights in the White House in 1964. He was then known as Light Bulb Johnson.
Why did the lights go out in the White House?
Answer: Walter Jenkins blew a fuse.
