This is a comment posted on an earlier post about Pastor Joey Faust and his plans to have his church members evangelize to the gays Tuesday night at the Fort Worth City Council meeting:
“God will not be mocked…and He will never except homosexuals haveing special right which are against natural law and fly in the face of His commandments. Homosexuality is a DEATH PENALTY SIN and we must pack the City Council on Tuesday November 10 to STOP THIS ABBOMINATION!!”
I have no problem with this person saying any of what she said – except when it gets to the “death penalty sin” part. That comes dangerously close to inciting violence against and murder of LGBT people.
This young lady goes by “Saved Girl” on Star Telegram. She always attacked the gays. This not posted here was copy and pasted to or from Star Telegram.
I don’t think ti goes over the line. The Christian scripture very much condemns male homosexual activity with the death penalty. So actually she, because we can’t condemn free speech, and fight against any religious faith, must accept that people can believe these kinds of things. If we begin to censor her speech, then we must censor other people’s speech.
When I was a county librarian, in a small community, I can remember people coming in and asking that we take the Koran off the shelf. They felt that since Muslims used it to justify their terrorist activities, it should be removed. When I showed them all the hate speech, found in the Christian Bible, and the amount of genocide called for by Yahweh most were confused and upset. Every individual’s right to say what they want is a sacred right of living in this nation. In the end though, the power of freedom of speech and freedom of religion is that we must allow a great spectrum, that only stops when someone actually calls for the death of an individual. Our courts have worked hard to create this freedom and it can only be abrogated in a few very rare cases.
This is one of the things that the religious right was very afraid of with the Matthew Shepherd Hate Crime Law. In other nations, that don’t have such strong free speech laws, there actually have been Christian ministers that have been accused of hate crimes because they said things very similar to what this said. But wheter we like it or not is very much supported by the Christian Bible, no matter how much liberal Christians try to dress it up and re-interpret it.
People can say WHATEVER they want, but we DON’T have to pay any attention to it.
I agree with Tammye.
I think this woman is probably the Prairie Lady from the video John posted about the Milk Box counter-protesters.
My only request to her is that if you are going to insult me at least be intelligent enough to proof what your posting. I think all the typos are more abrasive that her actual comment.
I’d like to retract my judgement about the typo, because I now see that I posted the improper your/you’re…I suppose we all live in some fierce glass houses…But that Prairie Lady can still suck it!
Just sharing some education with those sharing their beliefs with us.
“God will not be mocked…and He will never ACCEPT homosexuals HAVING special right which IS against natural law and FLIES in the face of His commandments.”
or
“God will not be mocked…and He will never ACCEPT homosexuals HAVING special RIGHTS which are against natural law and fly in the face of His commandments. ”
STOP THIS ABBOMINATION!!” (should be) stop this ABOMINATION!!”
To Mod E regarding “judgement” from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judgment_(law)#Spelling
The spelling judgment is found in the Authorized Version of the Bible. As a result, it is the preferred spelling in a legal context throughout the common law world.
Sorry, to be so late to the party but can someone post the link to the video , “… John posted about the Milk Box counter-protestors..”
(I’m at work and havin’ trouble gettin’ time t’ browse!)
Will everyone be at the FW City Town Hall, 1000 Throckmorton, FW, TX tonight?
Boy, isn’t this the pot calling the kettle black………. (used figuratively lest we start some new racial article here in the Dallas Voice)
You are the last person Tammye who should be talking about people “crossing the line” with their views and censoring their words, especially when you censor comments here at the Dallas Voice and shroud it with some terms of use policy.
Why don’t you just stop beating around the bush Tammye and come right out and say it. Its completely acceptable for YOU to go on and air YOUR political and religious views and criticizms, but everyone else who may have a political and religious view which may be different from yours warrants “approval” , “”criticism” and “censorship” at the behest of the Nash / Wright editorial tribunal………………….How utterly one-sided and hypocritical !!!
The truth is, if you all at the Dallas Voice, especially you Tammye and John, wouldn’t keep attempting to stir up trouble via your postings attacking and targeting these people for their beliefs, then there really is no surprise why these religious organizations keep on the way they do………….
I say, if you all spent more time doing your job over there and reporting about the community as you do trying to pick fights with these churches and shove your political and religious ideology down people’s throats then perhaps our community might be in a better place than it is now……….
Bottom line, ALL people have a constitutional right to free speech, irregardless of whether or not that offends the Nash / Wright ego…………..

The whole freedom of speech thing sure gets muddy when it’s online, isn’t it. On one hand, it’s not challenging our right to privacy because we don’t have to allow hate speech on the site. However, ‘fighting words’ are not free speech. That’s a line that I think this poster crossed.
Lil Debbie, you can kindly pop the off with your judgEment!! I guess I didn’t realize that I needed to preface my British, Atheist, Non-Legal status, but now you know… 🙂
Bottom line: “Irregardless,” though an actual word, is definitely nonstandard and generally corrected. I’m disappointed in you, Saved Girl —- err, Disappointed Reader.
Oh My.
It’s been going around that the LGBT community use duct tape over their mouths en masse to make a statement – that we have nothing to say to the anti-gays/fundies, that we are often silenced, and that our battle is not with the religious, it’s with the diversity agenda-changing. We will still have our signs, but it would make quite an impact for the most vocal of our community to take a silent stand, especially after Sunday’s Milk Box and the Kiss-In.
He can say what he wants. The LGBT community is lost in the DFW community. You losers do not want real change…that is clear. You all want more to focus on looking good and getting credit rather than making real change. Screw ya’all
I am with Disappointed Reader. This is the most biased rag! Tammye you clearly have an agenda and are not interested in an open conversation.
