The Human Rights Campaign has released a statement in support of the National Equality March, set for Oct. 11 in Washington. This is an important development, because there has been a lot of debate within the community about whether the march is a good idea. Read the statement by going here.
Nobody’s going. HRC “endorsement” makes the whole idea even less attractive.
It doesn’t matter to me either way b/c I’m one of the many people who can’t afford to make the trip to DC. One reason why state marches are more effective.
I’ll be there with several thousand others and the more folks we can turn out the better. Have a visit to my representative scheduled as well. Air fares to DC are very reasonable.
As to a march on Austin? Well the Texas Legislature only meets every 2 years and they are a certified bunch of loonies. At least we have a Democratic majority on DC and though they are stubborn a good crowd will go a long way toward getting their attention.
The organizers believe the interest demonstrates that about 20,000 people may make it to DC. That’s probably more embarrassing than any kind of show of strength.
People should spend money in their neighborhoods with direct action groups like Queer Liberaction.
Nobody is going.
Ahhhh Hardy – your Representatives WON’T BE THERE. See how silly this is? This is a non-event. The investigation into to the $250,00 raised by the organizers will be the “event.”
I just found the comment on the UnFair Park Blog from local comedian Dave Little about
the Kiss In scheduled.
Does this offend anyone other than myself?
dave Little says:
i’m guessing that fag french kissing and fag fajitas were voted down in the slogan meeting.

Everyone needs to know that Mark C. is Mark Cahill a fundamental Christian that shows up at gay marches to harass people.
Straight ally Jim of Irregular Times has exposed him on his website as well as confirmed I.P. addresses when Mark Cahill switched to Mark C.
Mark Cahill’s original post on I.T. blog used his whole name. You can see it here. https://irregulartimes.com/index.php/archives/2009/07/26/top-3-myths-about-the-national-equality-march-october-11-2009/
You can learn more about Mark Cahill here. https://irregulartimes.com/index.php/archives/2009/08/09/national-equality-march-is-not-cancelled-dont-believe-the-snipe/
Oh, this explains everything. Is he going to the March?
If you ever look at the butthole of a fundie, they have maggots crawling out of them.
This is a true fundie fact.
That’s not very nice Mr. Jett. Take it back.
Yep and this maggot is trying to infest the gay community in order to discourage efforts for the National Equality March. Don’t believe what he writes…he is our Satin and very crazy.
I would also encourage DV to check IP addresses on this guy. Would not surprise me if this guy is our “This was not a raid Brian” because he is using that name too.
DV…you have the tools to determine if this i correct or not. His rhetoric is very similar to our “This was not a raid” Brian.
I could be wrong…..but better wrong than sorry for trying to watch our back as DV should be doing.
Hell yeah, I’m going! Congress is back in session on Tuesday and I’ve scheduled a meeting with my rep as well. Even if the rep isn’t back yet, I’ll at least have the ear of a staffer (which is usually how it works anyhow).
Mark C., Don’t you have anything better to do?
