Kelly Clarkson satisfies queers and NASCAR fans alike. And lately, she’s been testing their admiration.
The Fort Worth native’s last album, “My December,” has been Clarkson’s backlash against the music industry. First, she refused to record any prefab radio-ready tracks. Then she scrapped a monster-sized tour and fired her manager. And album sales have been nowhere near her usual 6 million expectations.
While Clarkson recoils from the “Idol” hit-making machine, “Miss Independent” is definitely earning more respect.
Some have wondered about her sexuality, but Clarkson has answered the question: “Oh, no; I like boys,” she told lesbian magazine Diva. “Sometimes I wish I didn’t, just because there are so many problems with relationships, but I suppose that would happen whether it was a boy or a girl.”
Arguably the most talented “American Idol,” Clarkson easily switches gears: driving rock, sassy soul, cooing ballads and country duets.
Maybe “My December” will be a studio flop. But seeing Clarkson perform live over Thanksgiving Day weekend sounds like the ultimate Lone Star homecoming.

GIGGING OUT
Tori Amos keeps the “concept album” alive. Her new “American Doll Posse” is a 23-track disc featuring her multiple personalities. They even have names: Isabel (politico photographer), Clyde (wounded soul-seeker), Pip (rubber enthusiast) and Santa (glitzy sensualist).
On this tour, Amos’ performances are clocking in over two hours. You’d be crazy to miss it.

Debbie does Dallas. On Wednesday, Deborah Harry returns to Big D. The last time we saw the Blondie legend was on the True Colors tour at Smirnoff. The 62-year-old has still got it. And she’s got a new album, “Necessary Evil.”
