Dallas-Fort Worth is gearing up for a spectacular holiday season, with a whole lot of festive cheer and a calendar packed with events and experiences coming your way. Dazzling light displays, ice skating, theater performances and obviously visits with the ultimate daddy bear Santa Claus are all on deck to celebrate the holidays this year. So get that gay apparel out and check out this running list of holiday happenings right here. 


Vocal Majority Christmas Spectacular at the Eisemann Center: Back by popular demand, this yearโ€™s show is packed with holiday cheer, heartwarming sacred music and the signature Vocal Majority sound. Expect a joyful mix of fun and reverence across both acts, delivering the kind of festive, feel-good performance that has become a holiday tradition. EisemannCenter.com.

Dallas Zoo Lights: The holiday event returns for its ninth year and features over 2.5 million lights and  immersive experiences of light displays, animal vignettes and more. New additions include: Luxury Holiday Igloos, private, cozy retreats for up to six with optional food/beverage, the Dallas Zoo Lights Combo Ticket (explore the Zoo by day starting at 2:30 p.m. and stay for the night lights for $10 more), and Expanded Light Displays across nine themed zones. Coca-Colaโ€™s Classic Christmas at Dallas Midtown: The 90,000-square-foot immersive holiday spectacular introduces an all-new Refreshment Ridge Adventure along with real outdoor ice skating and snow slides to light trails, photo ops and themed nights. ClassicChristmas.com.

A Very Merry Village at The Village, Dallas

This holiday pop-up located on the second floor of The Village Country Club, offers a free, immersive experience with festive cocktails, themed bites, and a photo-worthy atmosphere. Guests can stroll down a Main Street featuring glowing decor, light installations, and a 50-foot Christmas tree. Special ticketed events like Sip & Wrap and Holiday Carol-oke, live music and movie nights are also offered. Vitruvian Lights in Addison: Vitruvian Park in Addison hosts the largest free holiday lights display, featuring over 1.2 million LED lights on 468 trees. The 13th annual season kicks off with the tree lighting ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 22, featuring Emerald City band Limelight. A second event on Saturday, Nov. 29, will feature the Dallas String Quartet. Both events include gourmet food trucks, treats, free photos with Santa, live reindeer and an Instagrammable LED gift box. Vitruvian Lights Bite Nights, with food trucks near the Amphitheater, will also take place on Saturdays Dec. 6, 13 and 20. Onsite parking for special events is $15 (cash only). 40th annual Holiday in the Park at Six Flags: This is an annual tradition transforms the park into a twinkling winter wonderland filled with more than 2 million lights, snow, hundreds of live trees, the first-ever holiday shop, brand-new entertainment and holiday cheer for guests of all ages. Guests can immerse themselves in the sights, sounds and scents of the season with festive entertainment, international holiday displays and seasonal treats celebrating 40 years.

New attractions this year include the Tinkerโ€™s Toy Factory  cirque-style show and the Christmastime Keepsakes Store on Merry Main Street. Signature experiences will feature nightly snowfalls, the tree-lighting, nine live performances and the cultural showcases with all the rides and attractions surrounded in lights and music.

A Christmas Carol by Dallas Theater Center: Embark on a magical Christmas Eve adventure with Ebenezer Scrooge as three otherworldly spirits whisk him away on a breathtaking journey of hope and redemption. Audiences can expect dazzling visuals and enchanting melodies at the Wyly Theater for this traditional tale that celebrates the transformative power of the holiday spirit. DallasTheaterCenter.org

Christmas Pops by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra: Celebrate the holidays with music when guest conductor Lawrence Loh, along with vocalists, soprano Jasmine Habersham and baritone Reginald Smith, Jr., return to sing seasonal favorites for the holidays. Making things even more festive are the Dallas Symphony Chorus and Childrenโ€™s Chorus. And, of course, what would Christmas Pops be without an audience sing-along and an appearance by that Jolly Old Elf, aka Santa Claus. Packed with classic carols, festive favorites, surprise guests, and the powerful voices of the Dallas Symphony Chorus, this tradition transforms the Meyerson into a winter wonderland of sound. Texas Ballet Theater presents The Nutcracker: With a classical score by Tchaikovsky and choreography by TBT Artistic Director Laureate Ben Stevenson, O.B.E., this holiday favorite is sure to charm ballet enthusiasts and newcomers alike. Join Clara and her brave Nutcracker turned Prince on their journey through the Land of Snow and into the Kingdom of Sweets.

Dates: At the Winspear Opera House in Dallas Nov. 28-Dec. 7 at the Winspear Opera House;  Dec. 12-28 at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth.

The Ritz-Carlton Dallas, Las Colinas holiday experiences

Starting Nov. 29 guests are invited for a lineup of themed events ideal for adults and families. You can also do your part as well. The Ritz-Carlton Dallas, Las Colinas is an official Toys for Tots partner, accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys starting Nov. 29.

Holiday Tea with Santa: Enjoy a 90-minute festive tea service featuring seasonal savories, sweets, bubbles and the opportunity to visit with Santa Claus. Children can write letters, participate in story time and take home a holiday keepsake gift. $125 per adult; $55 per child aged 5-12; free for children 5 and under. Reservations can be made here

Dates: Through Dec. 20 on Saturdays and Sundays, tea times at noon and 3 p.m.

Holiday Tree Lighting: Experience the hotelโ€™s 24-foot Christmas tree comes to life when Santa enters on horseback to press the big button to light it up. Gather poolside for festive films under the stars, sโ€™mores stations, a Bachendorfโ€™s holiday pop-up, and a Moรซt & Chandon champagne bar. One Christmas Carol at Onstage in Bedford: This one-man show brings Dickens’ A Christmas Carol to life with over 35 distinct characters, using only three chairs. Stripped of holiday opulence, it focuses on the core themes of selfishness and selflessness. The single actor embodies all the familiar charactersโ€”Scrooge, the Cratchitts, Tiny Tim and the Ghostsโ€”delivering a story and moral lessons without scenery or costumes. The Beulaville Baptist Book Club Presents: A Bur-Less-Q Nutcracker! by MBS Productions: The Beulaville Baptist Book Club, facing financial ruin, hires the Beaumont Ballet for a “Nutcracker” fundraiser. When Madgeโ€™s Piรฑa Colada Casserole food poisons the entire cast, she unknowingly hires the stranded Velvet Kittens Burlesque Dancers to perform “The Nutcracker.” The result is a highly original, unusual, and comical show. Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings by Lyric Stage: At first, Francis, Jinx, Smudge and Sparky aren’t sure why they’ve returned to Earth for another posthumous performance, but a phone call from the heavenly Rosemary Clooney lets them know they’re needed to put a little harmony into a discordant world. Sprinkled among the Christmas offerings are audience favorites, like their riotous three-minute-and-eleven-second version of The Ed Sullivan Show with special guests, as well as a Plaid Caribbean Christmas that puts the “Day-O” in Excelsis! The Gameโ€™s Afoot; or Holmes for the Holidays at Theatre Arlington: In December 1936, Broadway star William Gillette, famous for playing Sherlock Holmes, invites his cast to his Connecticut castle for the holidays. When a guest is stabbed, Gillette becomes Holmes to find the killer before another attack. This Christmas whodunit is gonna stuff the stocking with danger and comedy. Christmas in Killarney at the Coppell Arts Center. Set in Killarney, Ireland in the late 1920โ€™s, this concert showcases holiday traditions and features favorite Christmas songs along with Irish dancers leaping through the air and tapping to the music and harmonies of the season. Holiday Stroll at Artisan Circle

Holiday Stroll at Artisan Circle: Artisan Located in Fort Worthโ€™s Cultural District hosts a free, family-friendly celebration featuring a Holiday Market along Crockett Street, complimentary hot chocolate and live entertainment. Artisan Circle will also accept canned good donations for the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Free garage parking is available. Visit ArtisanCircleFW.com  for more information.

Date: Dec. 7, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.


Galleria Dallas hosts Hanukkah Celebration: The Galleria Dallas launches the holiday tradition of the lighting of a Hanukkah menorah to celebrate the season. The shopping center will host a ceremonial lighting of the first candle on the menorah, which is located on Level 1, near Zara. Visitors can enjoy traditional jelly doughnuts and music by Kol Shalom, along with remarks by Rabbi Andrew Paley from Temple Shalom at 5 p.m. One candle on the menorah will be lit every evening of Hanukkah.

Date: Dec. 14 at 5 p.m. Candles lit through Dec. 22. 


Sisterโ€™s Christmas Catechism at the Eisemann Center: It’s “CSI: Bethlehem” as Sister takes on the mystery โ€“ whatever happened to the Magi’s gold? Retelling the story of the nativity, as only Sister can for this comic holiday production. For tickets, visit EisemannCenter.com.
