Perfect skin is de rigueur for Hollywood red carpet appearances, but clearly it’s important in Texas as well. Recapturing the look of baby-soft skin is the real quest for the Da Vinci Code for image-conscious gay Dallasites. For 10 years, Dr. Farhad Niroomand has helped Oak Lawn patients deal with cosmetic concerns as well as serious skin issues.
A native of Tehran, Dr. Niroomand came to the U.S. in 1978. He received his degree from the Medical College of Georgia and did his internship at Houston’s Baylor College of Medicine. His residency in dermatology was completed in New York and he was certified by the American Board of Dermatology. Upon his return to Texas in 1995, he worked with Kaiser Permanente and Texas Dermatology before entering private practice in the late ’90s. He’s also kept busy by volunteering as a clinical associate professor at U.T. Southwestern.
It would be wrong to assume his work in Oak Lawn is confined to vain queens looking for the Fountain of Youth in Botox.
"He works with a lot of HIV patients on facial wasting issues," operations manager Jo Anne Payton says.
And some insurance providers are beginning to offer reimbursement for cosmetic filler treatments for patients with severe cases.

After earning his degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn., Dr. Henderson migrated to Dallas. He was in private practice with other doctors at various points before Uptown Vision.
According to office manager Giang Biu, many clients prefer glasses and will order several pairs in different styles. And it’s not necessarily just fashionable gay clients, the trend is across the board. "It can be a fashion accessory more than the need for some patients."
