UNT diversity group to display 4 panels of NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt

The University of North Texas’ Division of Equity and Diversity will present four blocks from the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt as part of campus commemoration of World AIDS Day, Thursday and Friday, Nov. 29-30, in the courtyard of the University Union, located one block west of the intersection of Welch and Prairie streets in Denton.

Each block includes four panels, and each panel is dedicated to someone who has died of HIV or AIDS.

In connection with the Quilt display, the UNT Meadow Center for Health Resources will offer free HIV screenings on Thursday.

Screenings are limited and are available by appointment only.

Michael Maddison Children’s Fund to host World AIDS Day event

The Michael Maddison Children’s Fund will host its fourth annual World AIDS Day event at LFT Victory Park in Dallas on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The event, a cocktail party, will include interactive performances by Dallas area ballet dancers and a viewing of the photography from the 2008 Dance Elite Calendar.

The Micheal Maddison Children’s Fund is a non-profit foundation that partners with grassroots organizations to provide food, medication, health care and shelter to children affected by HIV/AIDS.

LFT Victory Park is located at 2350 Victory Park Lane in Dallas.
