All that glitters is not necessarily gold — sometimes, it can be Diamond Rings.

That’s been the philosophy of John O’Regan (he goes by John O), the 27-year-old Canadian rocker who started as a frontman for the decidedly un-glam post-punk band The D’Urbervilles before striking out on his own in 2010 with the release of Special Affections, his debut full-length disc under the name Diamond Rings. Now, exactly two years later, he’s having a banner year — heck, a banner month.

His new disc, Free Dimensional, drops in two weeks, and that will be quickly followed by his network television debut on The Late Show with David Letterman.

The cherry on the top, though, has to be his appearance in Dallas … if not for him, then certainly for the out musician’s Texas fans. He opens for Stars at the Granada on Saturday … which means you can see him before a lot of America does on TV. Even better: You can win two free tickets to see the show. Visit DallasVoice.com and check out the Instant Tea blog asap to enter. But hurry! The contest ends quick!
