Scott Withers, 37, has filed to run for the Michigan District 5 seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. He faces Rep. Dale E. Kildee, 80, in the Aug. 3 primary. Kildee is seeking an 18th term.
Withers is a former CNN host and moved to Dallas to be the news anchor for the Q Television Network, an LGBT cable network that broadcast from Firestone Studios in Haltom City outside Fort Worth in 2005-06.
He owns a small communications consulting business and lives with his partner, Lane, in Flint, Mich. They have been together 10 years.
Withers is the first candidate to challenge Kildee in a primary since 1976.
After Withers filed, Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Mark Brewer asked him to drop out of the race to protect a long-term congressman.
But Withers is in the race to stay.
A series of comedy nights will benefit the Withers campaign. On May 23, Judy Tenuta headlines his kickoff at an event in Flint.как быстро продвинуть сайтнаполнение сайта цена
