Bride-to-be Carissa Roberts arrived to find an empty storefront last week when she went to Bridal Co. in Allen for her bridesmaids’ dresses.
Roberts told WFAA she’d called several times, but the phone had been disconnected. She was told her bridesmaid dresses would be ready mid-September. Her wedding is a few weeks away.
“I want my dresses,” she told WFAA.
Anthony E. Abraham, who is gay, owns the business, located at 549 W McDermott Drive in Allen. Abraham has had issues paying taxes in the past, according to the Secretary of State’s office. The IRS and state of Texas have filed several tax liens against him. And now he can’t be found.
“It’s frustrating that nobody contacted us to tell us they were going out of business,” said Roberts’ maid of honor, Alle Bird. “We weren’t refunded or given any time to order new dresses, and now we have to rush and try to figure something out.”
