Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, 8525 Garland Road, celebrates Fathers Day with remote control airplane demonstrations and exhibits, with remote control flights by North Dallas RC Club launching every hour on the hour above the Concert Lawn, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. There will also be walk-up sessions with the Perot Museum’s TECH Truck Staff in the Children’s Adventure Garden, and the Super Hero Dads Craft Corner for children. Admission is free for members; for non-members, $15 per adult, $12 for seniors, $10 for children 3-12, free for children under 3. There is an additional $3 fee for the Children’s Adventure Garden, plus a fee for parking.

Dash For Beads donates funds
The 7th annual Good Space Dash for the Beads 5K and Mardi Gras Festival raised $24,000 for schools and organizations serving children and youth in Oak Cliff, including $11,000 presented to the Rosemont Dad’s Club on behalf of students at Rosemont Elementary School (pictured). Other beneficiaries this year included The Kessler School, Raul Quintanilla Middle School, James S Hogg Elementary School, The Promise House, Hector Garcia Middle School, Kidd Springs Sailfish Swim Team, Life School, Anson Jones Elementary School, John H Reagan Elementary School, Cliff House KidzClub and Dallas Youth Athletic Association. Dash for the Beads 5K and Mardi Gras Festival was founded in 2009 by Chad West and David Sassano.
