The Gay and Lesbian Alliance of North Texas honored allies who’ve worked for equality at an event on Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Hilton Granite Park, part of a new development near Toyota’s new headquarters.
Attending the reception were a large number of allies who have created their own group headed by Rosemary Odom. Odom is a co-founder of CURE, a Collin County group that will hold a World AIDS Day event on Dec. 1 at Noah’s Event Venue, 2251 N. Greenville Ave., Richardson.
Among those honored were Plano Mayor Harry LaRosiliere and several members of the Plano City Council who passed the first equal rights ordinance in a suburban Texas city and defended it against attack by a right-wing church and organizers from Houston.
