Neil Emmons
Funeral mass for Neil Emmons, 45, takes place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 12521 Inwood Road. Emmons died in his sleep on March 30.
Emmons was serving in his third four-year term on the City Plan Commission after being appointed by Councilmembers Veletta Lill, Angela Hunt and Adam Medrano. He also worked with the Love Field Citizens Action Committee, which acts to reduce noise, air pollution, traffic congestion and safety hazards posed by Love Field.
He was active in Stonewall Democrats of Dallas, was a Democratic precinct chair and in the 1990s served on the board of Resource Center.
He is survived by his partner David Ewing; mother, Jeanette (Jan) Emmons; father, Ronald Emmons and wife Lynn; sisters, Katherine Carr, Susan Bailey, and Barbie Drews and husband Eric Drews; half brother, Stephen Emmons; nephews Joey Carr and Alex Drews; niece, Samantha Effinger and husband Roy; aunt, Jenny Piper and son, Nathan Piper.
