The tobacco lobby in the U.S. would never allow this, which says a lot about what’s wrong with America. This is a scan of an empty pack of smokes Dallas Voice controller Terry Thompson brought back from his recent vacation in Thailand. Thompson said while the photograph varies from pack to pack, they all contain images associated with the health impacts of smoking. This one, obviously, depicts throat cancer.
And with that, I think I’ll go have a cigarette.
This is disgusting.
Interesting posts today John. In this one you have powerful tobacco lobby keeping public control at bay. The other posting was about how expensive, some $5000 every half a year or so, it is to maintain the crosswalk on Cedar Springs.
In an industrialized country you can only have this conversation in the US. Having lived outside of the US for about 3 years, I really do think that government spending on social programs, such as lights on a crosswalk, improves the quality of life and is well worth it.
I lived in Madrid and each year during Pride groups would distribute thousands of condoms on the streets. I still keep some of those condoms because as strange as it may sound they give me hope. Sounds comical I know, but they give me hope because on the back they have the logo of the city of Madrid and the logo of the Ministry of Heal of the Spanish Government. How awesome would it be to have Texas condoms? Imagine how many lives would be saved if that were the case.
Condoms are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of how government spending positively affects peoples lives in Spain. Sure their taxes are higher and it might be a bit more difficult to become super rich but they also have add campaigns to reduce domestic violence. Madrid has one of the best public transportation systems in the world. Violent crime and even petty theft is way lower in Spain and other Western European countries than it is here. All of these things and much more because the government invests in its people.
So this is a bit of my rational behind creating drug rehabilitation centers as a means to reduce crime, for example, rather than militarizing Cedar Springs.
Great package design! I wonder how they would work that into a billboard? I can see the cars skidding off the road now as the drivers become fixated on the shocking photos.
this one totally looks like my lady business!
