Stonewall Democrats of Dallas is urging people to attend the Fort Worth City Council meeting tomorrow night — Tuesday, July 14 — in a show of solidarity with the Fort Worth LGBT community as the community continues to demand answers following the June 28 raid on the Rainbow Lounge.
Here is the info from the e-mail:
“Come to the Fort Worth City Council hearing to stand up for fairness and equality. Voice your opinion on the Rainbow Lounge Raid or just make a statement by your very presence. If there was ever a time to stand up for your community, it is now. The whole world is watching. If you’ve ever had a drink in a gay bar, you need to be there. This is more than a gay issue, it’s a human rights issue.

Tammye,
Could you please report the non-event yesterday in Fort Worth? You know, the QL protest at the Courthouse? We have pics, if you need them
Thanks for mentioning this City Council meeting. We are trying to get as many people out as possible. We want to show the Ft. Worth City Council that we are all watching the proceedings and want them to find out exactly why this happened. The more people that are there showing their support for the Rainbow Lounge, the more likely we are to get answers to our questions.
Good luck! I’ve never been to Fort Worth, I hardly ever set foot in a bar (not against them, I just don’t go to bars or clubs, etc.), but I’ll be there in spirit tomorrow night. You give ’em hell! You tell them that the whole world IS watching, and that the City Council needs to do something dramatic to show the rest of the world that Fort Worth isn’t as backwards as it sounds. I’ve written to your police, I’ve written to your city council members. I hope you give ’em hell.
Good luck!
