You’ll sometimes hear religious types say that coming out as Christian to your gay friends is harder than coming out as gay to your straight friends. Or something like that. Anyhow, perhaps even harder than either of these two things is coming out as an Eagles fan in Dallas the week before Monday’s Week 2 showdown at Texas Stadium. Of course, I have been out as an Eagles fan for a long time — since my birth at Jefferson Hospital in downtown Philly, at least — but I am just now coming out here on Instant Tea because, you see, we come out in new ways every day. So I just wanted to say, go Eagles! There, I feel better now. I predict that after Monday, the Cowboys will wish Hurricane Ike had come through two days later and forced cancellation of the game!
OK, so maybe the Eagles have a good track record here in Dallas but I think the Cowboys are gonna stick it to the Eagles this go round. The Cowboys will win it by 10 as they bid farewell to Texas Stadium. And Terrell will remind Philly what they are missing. Go Eagles? Sure…GO BACK HOME!
OK, I was hoping by 10 because that would have won me a bet but alas, Cowboys leave ye olde Texas Stadium in a blaze of glory. And the Eagles…well…not so much.
I’m sure the PGN is looking for an objective reporter like yourself! 😉
You call that a blaze of glory? Give me a break. The Eagles handed the Cowboys the game when they were driving with the lead in Cowboys territory in the fourth quarter and McNabb fumbled the handoff to Westbrook. It was a terrible play call, because there was no need to try to get tricky with a reverse at that point, not when they’d been moving the ball at will against the Cowboys’ defense all night. What you’re overlooking is that the Cowboys, who are supposed to be the best team in the NFC, barely escaped with a win at home against a team that was missing its two starting wide receivers. It was hardly an impressive display, and it appears as though Dallas is bound for another disappointing season, primarily because their defense is suspect and their quarterback is average at best.
John, I agree that McNabb’s fumble sealed the deal. But you are forgetting that the Eagles were only ahead then because they got a touchdown on a BAD interference call in the end zone in the first half. Remember that one? Dallas got flagged but the replay clearly showed it was the Eagle receiver doing the interfering
There are going to be questionable calls in any game, but I don’t think they were the difference in this one. I remember at least two blatant 15-yard facemasks that weren’t called against the Cowboys defense. I guess they figured grabbing Westbrook’s facemask was the only way to stop him, even though they knew he was going to get the ball just about every play.
Yeah but in the end, it’s one for the win column! YAYA! 🙂 I had to depressingly hear the game on the radio and only the last quarter so I can’t comment on the apparent goings-on prior. It didn’t help when the commentator said “This is the best game you ever saw!” Sigh.
Is the PGN hiring? heh
I wouldn’t work for the PGN. Philadelphia may have a better football team, but Dallas has a better gay paper.
