Shaun Johnson was born in Minneapolis and moved to Dallas four years ago from Oklahoma City to study fashion and photography. “I came here with a pack of Ramen noodles and $10,” she laughs; “Now I have two packs of Ramen and a six pack of beer.” This gregarious Aries is pursuing a bachelor of fine arts degree in fashion design/retail management and photography at the Art Institute of Dallas.

Shaun loves to be the center of attention. In high school she was an admitted “theater nerd” (fave role: The Wicked Witch in Sleeping Beauty) and also performed in the school band while excelling in softball and track. Her fashionista talents were apparent even then, as she was voted “Most Uniquely Dressed.”

After graduation, Shaun plans to open a boutique, taking old clothes, art and furniture and recycling them in a high fashion way while making them affordable to people “who have two jobs.” She’d also like to travel to Paris and Milan.

Shaun is the only female member of Sasha’s Dancers, a group orchestrated by a drag queen.

Sassy and affirmative, this modern warrior considers herself a “Renaissance woman” and “Jane of all trades” — but she’s keeping it tongue-in-cheek: “They don’t call me Shaun Awesome for no reason.”
