Bruce Monroe

Bruce Monroe talked to Dallas Morning News writer Sherry Jacobson about his current fight with ataxia, a neurological condition that makes it difficult to coordinate movements.
Monroe has lived with HIV for about 20 years. Jacobson has written about HIV for the Morning News since the height of the AIDS crisis.
At this point, doctors don’t know if the ataxia is directly related to his HIV or whether he will recover. The article can be found here.
Monroe was president of Dallas Gay and Lesbian Alliance in the early ’90s and served on the board of Resource Center when it was known as the Foundation for Human Understanding. More recently, he was a founding board member of The Dallas Way.
