David L. Butler, 63, died of complications from COPD on March 25 at Vitas Hospice in Irving.
Born Nov. 13, 1945 in Dallas, Butler had lived in the area all his life. He graduated from North Dallas High School in 1964. He was retired from EMSI/PMSI Services Inc., where he had worked for more than 20 years.
Butler loved to travel, and his favorite vacation spot was Cancun, Mexico. He loved pets, interior designing, calligraphy and shopping.
He was preceded in death by his partner of more than 20 years, Jim L. Galley, who died Dec. 29, 1990, and by two brothers, Henry and Bobby, who both died within the last six months.
Butler is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Butch and Pat Butler of Mesquite; three nieces and one nephew; his lifelong friend Grady Toney and close friends Michael and Nick, who cared for him in the last months of his life; and by his beloved dog, Peppy.
Funeral service were held March 28 at Grove Hill Funeral Home in Dallas, and Butler’s cremated remains were interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dallas on March 30.
