Walter Andrew Shellshear III, 63, died Sunday, Feb. 8.
Born July 20, 1945 in Lake Charles, La., Shellshear had lived in Roswell, N.M., Houston, Jackson, Miss., Tulsa, Okla. and Dallas. He attended Tulane University and the University of Tulsa. His many loves in this life included gardening, animals, travel, reading, music, history, art, architecture and design, movies, theater and politics. A wonderful sense of humor made him a delightful storyteller as well.
Shellshear had a life-long career in high-end luxury sales, ending as general manager of Post Oak Motorcars Ltd. of Houston, one of the nation’s largest Bentley-Rolls Royce dealerships. He also had a long and successful sales and management career at both Park Place Motor Cars of Dallas and Neiman Marcus, where many lasting personal and professional relationships were forged.
Shellshear was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Andrew and Kathleen Marie Shellshear, and his nephew, Brian Christopher Shellshear. He is survived by his life partner of 43 1/2 years, Stephen C. Byars; their three pets, Molly, Jake and Buster; his sister, Mary K. Strickland and her husband, George; nephew, Michael Strickland and his wife, Linda; great-nephew, Aiden; brother, Billy Shellshear and wife, Christy; niece, Angela Shellshear; sister, Elizabeth Blair and husband, Craig; and niece, Meghan Blair-Elledge and her husband, Jake.
A Dallas celebration of Shellshear’s life will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 18. All are welcome to attend. For service details go online to www.stevebyars.com.

Memorial services for Jeames Aric Beckham, 36, of Plano have been changed to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at MCC of Greater Dallas. Beckham died of complications from pneumonia on April 2 at Texas Health Resources Presbyterian Hospital in Plano.
Born Oct. 28, 1972 in Missouri, Beckham had lived in the Dallas area for the past six years. He graduated from Jackson High School in Jackson, Mo., Southwestern Baptist University in St. Louis.
He was unemployed at the time of his death, but had worked as an accountant. He had been controller for Martini Park, assistant controller for the W Hotel, and assistant controller for Westin City Center in St. Louis. He also volunteered at local theaters, including Uptown Players and WaterTower Theatre.
Beckham is survived by his mother, and stepfather, Joyce and Chuck Penland of Missouri; his father, Ken Beckham of Nevada; his stepmother, Dawn Jones of Nevada; his brother, Brad Beckham and his wife and their children Hanna, Abbey and, born after Beckham’s death, Elizabeth; his stepsister, Andrea Penland of Missouri; and his stepbrother Nathan Penland and his wife, also of Missouri.
Friends are asking that donations in his memory be made to a fund for an Adopt-A-Tree Memorial in his honor in Plano, and possibly for contributions in his name to other causes important to Beckham, such as Operation Kindness. Details for the memorial fund are still being finalized and will be announced when available.
