Roy Lynn Jones, 60, died on Sunday, Jan. 6 at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, La. Jones had traveled to New Orleans to visit friends for the holidays.

Jones was born in Chickasha, Okla., on April 24, 1947, and he grew up in the Dallas area. He graduated from North Dallas High School in 1965.

He was vice president of operations for B&F System Inc., from 1974 to 1987, and he worked in the interior design industry for many years as vice president of operations for David Sutherland Inc. until 1999. He had also worked as coordinating manager for Style Weavers, Inc., and operations manager for Kenn Boyd & Co.

Jones volunteered with Tanqueray Texas AIDS Rides 2, AIDS Resource Center, Oak Lawn Community Services, DIFFA, Fundraising for Adult Mentally Retarded, and the Women’s Chorus of Dallas. After his retirement, he enjoyed doing interior design, traveling, entertaining and socializing with friends and family.

Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Norma L. and Roy D. Jones. He is survived by his sister, Carol Downing of Garland; his brothers, Claude Jones of Cleburne, William Downing of Lowell, Ark., and David Downing of Dallas; five nieces and two nephews, many great nieces and nephews, friends John Terracina and Errol Haynes of Dallas and a host of other family members and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. at 4202 Lauren Lane, in Garland. Donations can be made in his memory to The Resource Center of Dallas or AIDS Interface Network.
