Raymond Cruz died peacefully Sunday evening, Nov. 1, at his home in Dallas. He had been battling cancer since July.
Cruz was born in San Antonio on Sept. 9, 1961. He moved to Dallas in the early 1990s, and was most recently employed by Dr. Pepper.
Cruz touched many people’s lives in Dallas. He enjoyed traveling, music and dancing. He worked out avidly, and was a sharp dresser and a great cook. He adored his three girls, Yorkshire Terriers Pebbles, Coco and Sugar. He never missed football on Sunday and was a true Cowboys fan.
His friends and family will deeply miss sharing laughter and stories with him, his sharp wit and unconditional friendship.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Ocejo Aldape, in 1996.
Cruz is survived by his life partner of 30 years, Sergio Quintero; two brothers, Toney and Gary; his sister Marie; nieces and nephews; and many friends and colleagues who will remember his outgoing personality and generous nature.

Shane Williams died Oct. 29 following a short but intense battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
He touched not only the lives but also the hearts of everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
From the time he was young, his compassion for others and his uplifting spirit were savings graces at the beginning and at the end of many lives. When he spread his wings, the world flew with him.
Funeral services were held Nov. 2 at the First Baptist Church in Kaufman, with arrangements through Eubank Cedar Creek in Mabank.
