Miguel Angel Cortez, 34, died Nov. 2 at his home in Lewisville.
Cortez was born April 18, 1975 in Bossier City, La., and had lived in the Dallas area for the past 16 years. He attended Parkway High School in Bossier City and Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

He is survived by his parents, Albert Cortez and Juanita Cortez, and his brother, Alberto Cortez, all of Bossier City, and his sister, Adriana Cortez of Lewisville.

A memorial service will be held at The Round-Up Saloon on Friday, Nov. 13, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Cortez’s family offered their condolences to his friends, saying that from the many comments and condolences they have received, they know their son and brother made a huge impact on everyone he met. The family also thanked those who had expressed their love for Cortez and shared their stories about him, saying those memories brought moments of smiles and laughter during a difficult time.
